Davidson County Workforce Development Board changes name to DavidsonWorks (April 04, 2008)

In 2007 the results of a stakeholder assessment revealed that there was confusion regarding who we were, what we did and how we added value to the community. Our Board of Directors then decided to correct the situation and DavidsonWorks was born in January 2008. DavidsonWorks is our new unified identity for the entire organization.

Transforming in 1998, the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Federal mandate required States to adopt the concept of consolidating the public employment and training services under one roof.  Under the Workforce Investment Act the Job Training and Employment Center (JTEC) became the administrative entity for the board.  The JTEC Executive Director provides leadership, facilitation and strategic direction to the workforce development board and its activities. They serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the entire organization. Currently the Board serves as the primary convener for workforce development issues in Davidson County and hosts the Thomasville Joblink.

DavidsonWorks vision is to stimulate economic growth by providing a skilled workforce that exceeds business needs for today and tomorrow. Our mission is to provide cutting edge globally competitive workforce development solutions for industry and businesses that fosters a quality workforce system in Davidson County. We are a proud partner of the State JobLink System. Locally we host the Thomasville Joblink and partner with multiple agencies to carry out our vision and mission. Some of our partners include the Employment Security Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Davidson County Community College, and many others.
